As requested by the Bear Flag Trading Company readers, I have read the first of a 10 part series of 299 Days by Glen Tate. I was expecting the usual progression that most of the writers give us in this genre. You know the world is falling apart, the hero of the story is a retired Special Forces guy that is an expert in everything, and he saves the world or reestablishes it. Not the case in this one.
I just got into archery since we received our bow for the BFTC 1000 subscriber give away. I bought my son a PSE recurve bow, and I bought myself a mid range compound bow. Now I am learning how to use this new tool. In response to my new found tool is this. I want to thank the reader that sent me this and I am taking it into consideration.
After a week of relentless media propaganda and numerous politicians calling for an all-out ban on firearms, Americans are fighting back with their pocket books. According to the Denver Post, gun sales across the country have skyrocketed in the wake of the Colorado shootings. In fact, the state of Colorado seen a 40% jump in sales from the previous week.
One of the first firearm that I ever used was a .22/.410 over under. It was an easy firearm to use as a youngster because it really had no recoil to speak of and I was able to stay on target. I kind of put both of those weapons into the memory bank of my foundation and remembering summer camp and my uncle who took me birding as a kid.

So here we go again, we are looking at a stand off about raw milk, when will the “health department” stop? I am so over this, if you are making an informed choice than let it be. And the liberal control freaks talk about free choice, not so free when it comes to Milk! So on this day of independence think about those that are being oppressed by our government over raw milk!
A rifle’s worth can be measured in cold mechanical terms, the effective distance, the weight and how you can update them. However the lever action has some coolness that you can’t easily explain. Let me put it this way: Can you picture John Wayne with anything but a lever gun? How about the T.V. Show Gun Smoke with a guy walking down the street without one. The lever action isn’t just a type of rifle; it’s part of our American culture.
I can only place this story in the WTF section of BFTC, because we do not have a No S!@# Dumb A@# section. This is happening way to often as of late. I remember a man in Southern California that was killed by a SWAT team that had bad intel. The Court ruled that the kill was a clean shoot because the SWAT team was under the impression the information was correct. Lets think about that when we read this story.
I Just finished Joe Nobody’s Holding Their Own and Holding Their Own II: The Independents. The Holding Their Own books follow a young couple through their adventure surviving an economic collapse in the near future. Bishop, the main character in the book is an Army trained regular line officer that rose to the rank of Captain. After getting out of the military he did a stint working as an Engineer/ Security specialist for a large oil company out ofTexas. Bishop as a semi “retired” guy, was at home with his wife when the collapse began, and as a series of events unfolded that would lead to a world wide depression and war.
So what is the U.N. Good for? giving dictators the bully pulpit to speak out against the United States, Transferring billions of dollars in Aid to the pockets of thugs, and allowing the rape and selling of young children (U.N. Me). So the question is why are we still allowing them to be in the world?
