Progressives: Gun Laws and Free Speech

I use to think that progressives did not get why the 2nd Amendment was important. I like to say that the Second Amendment is the pillar that holds the Fist Amendment up. I thought That they, progressives were either uneducated on the use of fire arms or that they were afraid of them and most likely both.
