I Just finished Joe Nobody’s Holding Their Own and Holding Their Own II: The Independents. The Holding Their Own books follow a young couple through their adventure surviving an economic collapse in the near future. Bishop, the main character in the book is an Army trained regular line officer that rose to the rank of Captain. After getting out of the military he did a stint working as an Engineer/ Security specialist for a large oil company out ofTexas.
