One of my jobs is a Community Emergency Response Team instructor for the city that I work for. I am asked often how often you should check your preparedness supplies. First I want to say that being ready is a full time job. You cannot just buy a disaster kit, put it in your closet and forget about it.

When I was a kid and was a boy scout, yes I was a boy scout, we always has a “Chuck Box”. I think that this is a great tool to have in a bug outTo leave for a more secure position. i.e. Survival Retreat, Neighbors, etc. situation, all of your cooking essentials are there for you and you do not have to think about it. Plus a good chuck box will help you when you go car camping with your family. Here are some basic instructions. I plan on making one soon as a father and son project. I am not a wood worker so I will let you know how it went.
