Medical Terminology

When traveling to Europe a few years back I found myself at a disadvantage in a few countries because I lacked the ability to communicate in the local language. Calculating the additional time I would have gained to enjoy the country if I wasn’t seeking translation is disappointing. Time is the important factor we need to calculate in life saving events.
In emergency medicine, the golden hour refers to a time period lasting from a few minutes to several hours following traumatic injury being sustained by a casualty, during which there is the highest likelihood that prompt medical treatment will prevent death. Speaking the same language saves time, time saves lives. So I present the “Basic Medical Terminology” manual used by the U.S. Army.
Don’t just download this manual and file it away, Pick a Term a Day and increase your ability to speak this language. You will find it helpful when visiting your Primary Care Physician, when communicating with 911 and Medical Professionals.
