About Bear Flag Trading Co.
Who are we? That is a good question.
The founders of the Bear Flag Trading Company have over 50 years of experience in, outdoor living, bushcraft, hunting, fishing, emergency medicine, disaster response, home defense, home preparedness, military service, business and more.
We have decided to take our experience and all the gear that we have accumulated and share with you and give you the opportunity to do the same. Our goal is not to make this just an online classified and blog, but to create a place that the prepper community can come to and share their experiences, best practices, trade, barter and sell their useful, however no longer needed items and gear.
We want to make every experience a good one.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to spend it with us.
The Bear Flag Trading Co.
Getting Ready
As it turns out in the face of reality, action really does speak louder than words. I read several of the Blog sites posted on prepping, survival issues, arming for Armageddon and much of the impractical advice that is dished out as though hordes of experts have contributed their wisdom.
I’m writing this article to stress and hopefully educate you on the importance of taking first aid classes, then to practice these skills. Much like marksmanship, running an assessment and/or performing CPR is a perishable skill. To do that I will review the fundamentals of first aid, review a couple first aid treatments, and direct you toward local resources

It was a year ago that I talked about this subject with a post entitled “Finding Like Minded People“. With the current political climate more and more people are attempting to find security in numbers and a group to call home. With my occupation and extra curricular activities like Bear Flag Trading Co. I have the opportunity to talk

Freezing temperatures are on the way in the northern hemisphere, and have already settled in some places, so it’s time for a seasonal check of your emergency gear and supplies. I thought this winter emergency checklist would be helpful. You blokes Down Under, check back in a few months.
Louisiana State Police say that 6 million pounds of explosives, including M6 artillery propellant, were found recklessly packed into buildings and left in open cardboard boxes on long rows of pallets outside the old Louisiana Army Ammunitions Plant. Officials are now removing the explosives, but residents are expected to be under a mandatory evacuation order for at least a couple of days.
In the News
In online posts today the leaders of Google and Facebook both said they didn’t know anything about the National Security Agency using a program called PRISM to access their users’ data. While neither Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg nor Google’s Larry Page did anything to explain what data they provided to the NSA via other means, they both clearly registered concerns over the tactics the agency was revealed this week to have used to get phone-record data from Verizon customers.
Medical
As a Corpsman with the Marines, I was always looking for multipurpose medical devices. When I was introduced to the Israeli Bandage by a friend a Major Surplus, I was hooked. I wanted to share with you a little history and a video from my Friend HossUSMC on how to use this cool medical device.

Bug Out
7 Must-Have Items in a Bugout Bag A bug out bag is one of the first things a new prepper tackles — and for good reason. The bug out bag (a.k.a bugout bag, BOB, get out of dodge bag, ready bag, 72-hour bag) is your go-to item in the event of an emergency evacuation of any kind. It is generally recommended to have three days of supplies in your BOB. Whether you keep it at home, at work, or in your vehicle will depend on your specific circumstances, but the basic idea is that it should always be handy so you can grab it and go on short notice. In this article we’ll look at the following:
Firearms

WTF
Revisionist history continues to distort the foundation of our country. The latest twist:The Blaze reported today that Texas public schools are now teaching our youth that the Boston Tea Party was not a brave protest against “taxation without representation,” and the celebrated moment that sparked the American Revolution, but an act of terrorism. In an excerpt
